PhotobucketEvery time someone mentions India to me, my mind conjures images of mysterious women, the Taj Mahal, and magic.

Those images teased my brain the moment I opened my mail box this morning and read a letter from Vembu Shankar of India:

Dear Mr Leodini:

Greetings from India. I am an Indian Army officer who is a big fan of you and your style of magic.

As you must be aware India is a big magic center, and we have been all these years entertained by the mystical magic of the greats.

I also collect autographs of magicians and have in my collection autographs of P C Sorcar, David Copperfield, Sankey, Penn and Teller, David Blaine among others.

I would be grateful if you could send me an AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO of yourself as well as two aces of spades signed by you for me to preserve.

Looking forward to the magical autographs !

My address is : (Omitted for reason of privacy.)

Thanking you and regards from India,

Hi Shankar,

Thanks for your letter.

PhotobucketI blushed at the part where you intend to place me in the company of Sorcar, Copperfield and other magic greats.  I’m a great fan of Sorcar.  I specially love his blindfold act.

I’m also a great fan of Indian magic, particularly the ones performed by performers on the streets. They are so skillful they make me rethink my own magic. Overall, India is a magical land. I hope someday to visit your country.

I’ll send you the autographed picture and two signed Aces of Spades that you requested. I hope you will see them fit for inclusion in your collection.

Stay magical,
