His latest foray abroad was the trip to Singapore to attend the 2007 Singapore Masters of Magic. In that trip he made the distinction of being the only non-Singaporean asked to perform in that event.
Known in the Philippine magic industry as Tito Cris, Cris Castro is the Chairman of Inner Magic Club. He is also the only Filipino magician who is member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Magic Association (AMA).
Chairman Castro’s involvement in AMA paved the way for the acceptance of Inner Magic Club in the prestigious Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques (FISM), the acknowledged Olympics of magic that draws the most talented, creative and skillful magicians in the world every three years to its competitions.
To date, IMC holds the distinction of being the only organization of Filipino magicians to have been accepted into FISM and AMA.
This distinction, though, did not come on a silver platter. It is the product of long, expensive, hard work. Since 2001, Chairman Castro roamed Asia, attending conventions and magic competitions, and building relationships with neighboring countries’ magic organizations. Always, the mission he pursued in those Asian sorties was to gain acceptance for Philippine magic through Inner Magic Club into the select community of magicians all over
The hard work paid off. Over the years, Chairman Castro has performed before magic conventions, sat as judge in Asian magic competitions, and won gigs on the side.
From May 1 to 7 this year, Chairman Castro, together with members Ritchie Javier and Erwin Reyes, went to Happy Valley, China to perform daily for one week.
Through the efforts of Chairman Castro, Inner Magic Club’s stamp is now all over
Fasten your seat belts. The next stop is the rest of the world.
