How to Break the DNA Code of Success

If  for years you have been languishing in mediocrity and would like to know how to improve, read the captivating transcript of CNN’s interview with Malcolm Gladwell.

He is the author of the best-selling books, “The Tipping Point: How Little Things Make a Big Difference,” (2000) , “Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking” (2005),

In his third book, Outliers: The Story of Success, Malcolm Gladwell deconstructs the innerworking of success. Though he cites many examples, his choice of The Beatles as one of his starwitnesses intrigues me.

In the CNN interview,  Gladwell recounts The Beatles’ humble beginning as a band playing for up to eight hours a day, seven days a week for months on end in some obscure bar in Hamburg.

Gladwell posits that talent is the desire to practice.  In other words, hard work is talent.

As a performer who wants to be the best in my field, I must admit that these two formulas of success strike me hard in my belly.  It wakes me up and shows me how far I am lagging behind in the talent category.

Let me put forth to you the formulas again:

Desire to Practice = Talent

Hard Work = Talent

These are not earthshaking revelations.  In fact, many success gurus have been teaching the world these lessons for ages now.  What sets Gladwell’s presentation of these success formulas apart from those who taught them before him is his examination of other determinants of success.  He analyzes birth dates, culture, family among other things as additional factors of extraordinary achievements.  He doesn’t stop on individual capabilities or inherent genius but goes beyond innate abilities to zero in on the DNA of success.

If being successful intrigues you, then you may want to read the transcript of the CNN interview with Malcolm Gladwell.

Or watch the video: Fareed Interviews Malcolm Gladwell

If the interview intrigues you as it intrigued me, then buy Mr. Gladwell’s Outliers: The Story of Success.  I shelled out more that P700 yesterday at Power Books to get my copy.

The book does not contain a single magic trick or sleight-of-hand to vanish an elephant, but it has already inspired me enough to spend more time on practice and rehearsal today.  And to think I’m still on Chapter One.

Stay magical and successful,

Thanks for posting. I’ve heard the story of Mr. Gladwell. Yes, his formula of success is not far from others, as one factor of it is really hard work.

But can you also comment on the book/video “The Secret”?

Thanks Kuya Leo, Totally appreciate it.

    Hi Slydon,

I have been meaning to write about the “The Secret”. I have both the book and video of it. For some inexplicable reasons, I can’t find the time to write a review of “The Secret.”

Just the same, nag me some more, and I may get over the inertia of laziness and type a few paragraphs about the book/video.

    Stay magical,

    Kuya Leo,

I think it will be very difficult to give examples on what you had achieve or what you have done lately that will prove the “secret” evidently.

I always put in my mind evryday of my life that I’m a champion, yet, no championships have crossed my way lately. On the other hand, I always put hardwork each time I step on the stage, and my great competitiveness drive me in achieving anything I have.

The article you will write about it will surely be interesting and very intriguing.

Good Luck, I’ll wait for it.

    Hi Slydon,

The Secret is all about the Law of Attraction. I myself have gotten mixed results from practicing it. I don’t blame the principle. Ithink I have not practiced it long enough just yet to get maximum result. That is why I’m not ready to give it a full judgment—either negative or positive.

If you can’t get the principles of The Secret down pat yet, you may want to join the forum of like-minded individuals who believe in the Law of Attraction. Here is the link: Powerful Intention.

You can join the forum for free. Once a member, you can ask for advice from the more seasoned individuals who practice the Law of Attraction

    Stay magical,
