Latest Updates on Davao Magic Competition
Here’s the latest advisory from James Infiesto regarding the Davao Magic Competition.
First, the official title of the event is the First Philippine Magic Open Competition.
Contestants will pit talents with each other in two categories, namely, Close Up Magic and Stage Magic.
James has been working his butt off organizing these three-day event, and he has found sponsors who put up the prizes.
For the Close Up Magic Competition, the prizes up for grabs are as follows:
Champion - P20,000 plus trophy
First Runner-up – P10,000 plus trophy
Second Runner-up – P5,000 plus trophy
Whereas before only Davao magicians qualified for the Close-up Magic Competition, today all magicians representing other cities including Metro Manila are eligible to compete.
If minds don’t change, the magic community of Zamboanga and Cagayan de Oro cities will travel to Davao, as they had previously signified their interest to join the competition. We can expect, therefore, not only an exciting competition in Davao but a convergence of magic enthusiasts, fans, lovers of magic and professionals. That alone will be a magical event worth participating in.
In the Stage Magic Competition, the winners will receive the following:
Champion – P30,000 plus trophy
First Runner-up – P20,000 plus trophy
Second Runner-up -P10,000 plus trophy
Registration Fee for either contest is P500. After registering, a contestants will receive an official contest identification card and a certificate of participation.
Elimination rounds will be held on October 17 and the finals will be held on October 18, both at Gaisano Mall of Davao Atrium.
The criteria for judging are as follows:
Technical Skill/Handling 20%
Showmanship/Presentation 20%
Entertainment Value 20%
Impression/Routining 20%
Originality 20%
Total of 100%
Length of contest pieces must be minimum of five minutes and maximum of 10 minutes.

After the two-day competition, James will present a magic extravaganza on October 19. Performing artists will come from Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines and some other neighboring countries. Inner Magic Club will, of course, be amply represented.

Salamangca de Davao welcomes IMC and other Magicians from all over the Philippinbes here in Davao City..this is a very wonderful event not only for us magicians but also to the people who wants to be entertained thru magic. Salamangca de Davao has members who will join the close-up competition namely; Jose Tabada, Rico Ramos, Jay Alcarito and Isiah Francisco..We are very excited for this event not only because we can perform tricks up in our sleeves but also because we can meet and mingle with other conjurers..See you guyz here in Davao City!
